Rainer E hrt(*1960 Elbingerode), Graphic portfolio for E. T. A. Hoffmann ‘Das Fräulein von Scuderi’ , 2003. Seven color aquatint etchings, 53 cm x 38 cm in linen folder, each signed in lead lower right and numbered lower left, two sheets of accompanying text with signed printer's note, copy no. 25 / 30. Published by ‘Serapion vom See’.

- Portfolio with minimal traces of use, one sheet dusty in a few marginal areas, otherwise in perfect condition

- Curdled Imagination -

Rainer Ehrt's portfolio revives the tradition of large-format illustrations by artists such as Lovis Corinth and Max Slevogt. Each sheet looks like a work in its own right, thanks to the different colors alone. Ehrt's wildly virtuoso yet pointed style opens up an imaginative space that allows E. T. A. Hoffmann's nightmarish narrative to be understood and re-explored through imagery.
